HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE?

There is no simple answer to this question because an applicant’s wait will depend on factors such as whether or not they have a preference, the date of the application, etc. This is a pre-application to place your name on the waiting list. Final eligibility will be determined at the time your name reaches the top of the waiting list. An applicant’s wait for the Housing Choice Voucher program can vary from months to several years.

WHERE AM I ON THE WAITING LIST?

Walworth County Housing Authority does not give out numbers or rankings on the waiting list, simply because your position may fluctuate due to funding and program openings.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY MAILING OR EMAIL ADDRESS CHANGES?

If your mailing address changes, you must contact the office to update your address. Failure to do so may result in removal from the waiting list.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY NAME REACHES THE TOP OF THE WAITING LIST?

Once your application reaches the top of the waiting list, you will receive a letter scheduling an appointment to complete the eligibility process. You will be required to provide Social Security Cards and Birth Certificates for all household members.

No. We do not have or provide emergency assistance.
